Application and Characteristics of Reflective Fabrics

Reflective fabric is a high-tech material widely used in traffic safety equipment, adhesive films, protective clothing, workwear, uniforms, and other products that are closely linked to the safety of human life and property. This type of fabric is manufactured using advanced processing techniques that leverage the retroreflective principle of high-refractive-index glass microspheres, followed by precise focusing and finishing. It reflects direct light from a distant source back toward its origin, delivering excellent retroreflective optical performance both day and night. In particular, at night it provides visibility as good as during the day. Its introduction has effectively solved the challenge of nighttime driving—being seen and seeing—by ensuring high visibility. Workwear made with this highly visible reflective fabric can be easily spotted by nighttime drivers, even under conditions of direct illumination, scattered light interference, or from great distances. Now that we’ve understood its principles and applications, let’s explore its key characteristics.
Durability: The reflective fabric exhibits excellent abrasion resistance, aging resistance, and washability. It can be dry-cleaned or washed without easily losing its reflective properties, and even after repeated washing, it can still maintain more than 75% of its original reflectivity.
Diversity: To meet the diverse applications and characteristics of other products, our reflective materials lineup includes reflective thermal laminating films, reflective fabrics, reflective lettering adhesive films, reflective inks, reflective plastic films, and reflective graphic application films, offering users a wide range of options.
Wide-Angle Performance: Reflective fabrics not only outperform comparable products from other brands in terms of reflectivity, but also exhibit wide-angle performance—meaning they maintain excellent reflectivity even when light strikes the fabric surface at a steep angle.
Reflectivity: Reflective fabrics exhibit exceptionally high reflectance performance. For example, the silver-gray series typically achieves a reflectance intensity of 500 candelas per square meter (CPL), while the reflective plastic films in white and fluorescent yellow typically reach 700 CPL, providing effective personal safety protection in conditions of poor visibility or inadequate lighting.
Wide applicability and flexibility: Reflective fabrics are suitable for a broad range of applications, including safety harnesses and vests, sportswear, outerwear, workwear, raincoats, backpacks, footwear and headgear, and gloves. They can also be cut into custom shapes or adorned with screen-printed logos and patterns. In addition, the reflective film series can be directly laminated onto leather or fabric surfaces.
